Sifu Chuck’s Wing Chun Curriculum

The following is a list of Sifu Chuck’s Wing Chun curriculum that is used at all his Revolution Wing Chun Schools:

 

Traditional Wing Chun Training Curriculum

 

Level One (School of Learning) : Sil Lim Tao

The Level one curriculum includes the Sil Lim tao form, lap sau, pak sau, don chi sau, defenses, drills, and theories.

 

Level Two (School of Learning) : Chum Kil

The Level two curriculum includes the Chum Kil form, builds on the elements of level one, chi sau, lok sau, Lut sau, gwoh sau, footwork, drills on the Mook Yan Jong, and additional theories. The student will also refine their understanding and skill set of Sil Lim tao at this time.

 

Level Three (School of Learning) : Biu Jee

At Level three, the student learns the Biu Jee form, is introduced to more dynamic defenses, starts sandbag training, expands their knowledge in chi sau, gwoh sau, and footwork, and takes the foundational techniques and drills learned in levels one and two and applies them with additional footwork, and techniques.

Sil Lim tao and Chum Kil forms are also trained at this level. Mook Yan Jong training also starts at this level.

 
Level Four (School of Learning) : Mook Yan Jong & Luk Dim Book Kwan

While continuing to refine their understanding and mastery of the previous levels, the student now begins to study the Mook Yan Jong form in depth & Luk Dim Boon Kwan form and drills. Their Chi Sau skills are honed with additional environmental variables, their knowledge is expanded with additional Wing chun kuen kuit. And start Chi gerk (sticky leg) training.

 
Level Five (School of Learning) : Baat Cham Doa 

Students will begin training with the final traditional Wing Chun weapon set at this level. They will also learn the Baat Cham Doa form and drills. At this level a student will be expected to write a thesis, and help conduct classes.

 

 

Enhanced Wing Chun Instructors Program

For those students who eventually want to teach and share the art of Wing Chun with their own students, we offer the Enhanced Wing Chun Instructor program modules in addition to the above curriculum:

Apprentice Instructor (School of Coaching): Apprentice Instructor

After completing the requirements of the Sil Lim tao level of training, the individual can qualify to become an “Apprentice Instructor”. They will be taught the details required to share the Sil Lim Tao level material.

They will be required to continue training in the Chum Kiu level student level material, and a minimum of 10 hours of assisting during regular classes under the Sifu’s guidance.

Upon certification, the individual will be encouraged to start training groups in their area (but not mandatory), and will only be able to share (but not certify or grade) the Sil Lim Tao level 1 material.

 

Instructor Level One (School of Coaching): Level 1 Instructor

After completing the requirements of the Sil Lim Tao and Chum Kiu levels of training, the individual can qualify to become a “Level 1 Instructor”. They will be taught the details required to teach and grade the Sil Lim Tao level material, along with an introduction to club management strategies.

They will be required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of teaching under the Sifu’s guidance. Upon certification, the individual will be encouraged to start training groups in their area (but not mandatory), and will be able to certify and grade Level 1 (Sil Lim tao) students only. They will also be able to share (but not certify or grade) the Chum Kiu level 2 material.

 

Instructor Level Two (School of Coaching) : Level 2 Instructor

After completing the requirements of the Biu Ji level of training, the individual can qualify to become a “Level 2 Instructor”. They will be taught the details required to teach and grade the Chum Kiu level material, along with an business management and marketing strategies.

They will be required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of teaching under the sifu’s guidance. Upon certification, the individual will be able to certify and grade Level 1 (Sil Lim tao), and Level 2 (Chum Kiu) students only. They will also be able to share (but not certify or grade) the Biu Ji level 3 material.

 

Instructor Level Three (School of Coaching) : Level 3 Instructor

After completing the requirements of the Muk Yan Jong & Luk Dim Boon Kwan level of training, the individual can qualify to become a “Level 3 Instructor”. They will be taught the details required to teach and grade the Biu Ji level material, along with business management strategies.

They will be required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of teaching under the sifu’s guidance. Upon certification, the individual will be able to certify and grade Level 1 (Sil Lim tao), Level 2 (Chum Kiu) and Level 3 (Biu Ji) students only. They will also be able to share (but not certify or grade) the Muk Yan Jong/Luk Dim Boon Kwan level 4 material.

Students will also be required to attain their Standard First aid and CPR ‘C’ to complete their grading.

 

Instructor Level Four (School of Coaching): Senior Instructor

After completing the requirements of the Baat Cham Doa levels of training, the individual can qualify to become a “Level 4 Instructor”. At this level they will have the title of “Senior Instructor, Dai-SiHing or Sifu”. They will be taught the details required to teach and grade the Wing Chun Weapons material, along with advanced business management strategies.

They will be required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of teaching under the Sifu’s guidance. Upon certification, the individual will be able to certify and grade all Levels (Sil Lim tao, Chum Kiu, Biu Ji, Muk Yan Jong, Luk Dim Boon Kwan and Baat Cham Doa).

Students will also be required to attain their Standard First aid and CPR ‘C’ to complete their grading.

At this level a student will be expected to write a thesis, and conduct classes.

 

Note For Instructor Levels:

The Enhanced Instructor Program requires mandatory attendance to Instructor program seminars to ensure that there is continual growth for the individual and they are kept current with Revolution Wing Chun Kung Fu standards and guidelines.

Upon completing any of the Instructor levels, the student will have the support of Sifu Chuck and Revolution Wing Chun Kung Fu and is encouraged to start training groups in their locale.

All of our active Instructors in good standing will be listed on our website.

 

Final Note on All Ranking Levels:

At Revolution Wing Chun Kung Fu, ranking is earned through hard work, dedication, conduct and spirit. Each individual is unique and is encouraged to train at their own pace. As such, we do not guarantee a set timeline for when ranking will be achieved as that is mainly dependent on the student.
